Rapper murder suspect held
A third suspect in the killing of 20-yearold Florida rapper XXXTentacion was arrested late last week in central Georgia, the US Marshals Office said.
Robert Allen, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was being held in Dodge County, Georgia, according to sheriff’s records there, after he was taken into custody by members of the Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
‘Charlie’s Angels’ gets reboot
Charlie’s Angels are returning to the big screen next year for a third outing, this time with a female director and a multi-racial trio of women led by Kristen Stewart.
Twilight star Stewart, along with rising British actresses Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, will play the lead roles in the latest movie reboot of the 1970s crime caper, to be directed by Elizabeth Banks, Sony Pictures said on Thursday.
Cliff Richard appeal bid fails
A High Court judge in Britain has dismissed an attempt by the BBC broadcaster to appeal a ruling that it had breached the privacy of veteran singer Cliff Richard by televising a police raid on his house.
Last week Richard, 77, was awarded substantial damages after the BBC used helicopter footage of detectives searching his home, which the singer said had left him feeling violated.
Roseanne admits tweet cost her dearly
Comedian Roseanne Barr apologised for her controversial Twitter comment that caused the cancellation of her US comedy show Roseanne, but insisted she had been misunderstood and said the mistake “cost me everything.”
Barr said in an hour-long television interview, her first since comparing a black former Obama administration official to an ape, that her May tweet was political in nature, not racist.
Emma Thompson laments role models
Emma Thompson is suddenly feeling her age.
The change sweeping Hollywood in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the #MeToo movement has left the British actress and director musing on the “primitive model” males that women of her age have had to grapple with.
“I feel like I was still part of a really backward generation, which was very binary in its views on males and females,” said the double Oscar winner whose film performances include star roles in Love Actually, and the Harry Potter series.
“I feel like I grew up surrounded by quite primitive, raw models,” she told AFP.
