Bangkok Utd demolish Port with late goals
Bangkok United enacted a great escape as they rallied past visiting Port 2-1 with two late strikes despite being reduced to 10 men for the entire second half in a marquee Thai League 1 match last night.
The result had no impact on defending champions Buriram United as their ninepoint lead at the top of the league remained unaffected. The Thunder Castle edged Suphanburi 2-1 on Saturday night.
Buriram remain on course for a hat-trick of domestic titles as the northeastern giants have already secured quarter-final berths in both FA Cup and League Cup.
Dragan Boskovic put Port ahead in the fourth minute and Bangkok United were reduced to 10 players when Wanchai Jarunongkran was sent off in the first-half injury time.
Sumanya Purisai kick-started t he home team’s recovery in the 82nd minute and Pokklaw Anan produced the last-gasp winner for the capital side.
The arrival of former league-winning coach Totchtawan Sripan at Police Tero once again failed to produce the desired result as the former giants slumped to another defeat, suffering a 3-0 rout at the hands of Bangkok Glass last night.
The Glass Rabbits stunned the hosts with three unanswered second-half goals as Totchtawan remained winless in his five game in charge of Police Tero.
Daniel Garcia opened the scoring for Bangkok Glass shortly after the second-half kick-off and Surachat Sareepim and Thitiphan Puangjan added two more to their tally.
Bangkok Glass moved a point above the five-team relegation zone for the first time in many months, while Police remained pinned to the drop zone.
Pattaya United were able to hold visiting sixth-ranked Chiang Rai United to a goalless draw at home, while in another game last night Air Force Central stunned Nakhon Ratchasima 1-0.
In Saturday night’s late game, Montree Promsawat and Nerijus Valskis struck on either side of the break to steer Ratchaburi to a 2-0 win over Ubon UMT United.
