Prayad Marksaeng clinched his fourth title of the year and 12th overall on the Japan Senior Tour after winning the 36-hole Maruhancup Taiheiyo Club Senior in Hyogo yesterday.

Trailing the leader by two shots after the opening round, the 52-year-old Thai, who is in his third season on the tour, posted a two-under 70 to finish on nine-under 135, one shot ahead of his rivals at the Taiheiyo Club Rokko Course.

Prayad, who also won the tournament in 2016, took home the ¥10 million (approximately 2,990,400 baht) winner’s cheque.

“Thank you to all the fans who came out to support me today,” said Prayad during the trophy presentation before adding that he’s happy he opted to play this weekend despite not being in a good shape for the tournament.

Overnight leader Katsumi Kubo (73), Takeshi Sakiyama (69) and Tsuyoshi Yoneyama (66) finished joint second on eightunder 136.

Another Thai player in the field Thaworn Wiratchant finished tied for 31st on 145 after shooting a second round 73.

With his win, Prayad is likely to win the Order of Merit for the third consecutive year.
