Pawin ‘finally pulls it off’ in Rayong for 2nd ATGT title

- LEADING FINAL ROUND SCORES

RAYONG: Pawin Ingkhapradit claimed his second All Thailand Golf Tour title after winning the two-million-baht Singha Championship in Rayong yesterday.

Starting the day one shot off the pace, Pawin closed with a four-under-par 67 to finish on 12-under 272, four shots ahead of the chasing pack at the par-71 Rayong Green Valley Country Club.

The Suphan Buri native, whose maiden tour win came at the 2015 Singha Hua Hin Open, took home the 300,000-baht winner’s cheque.

The 27-year-old Pawin, who was the first two round leader, got off to shaky start with the first-hole bogey but bounced back immediately with three straight birdies from the third, an eagle at the seventh and another birdie at the 10th before bogeying 17th.

“Despite a poor start, I came back immediately and did what I wanted to do,” he said.

“It’s been a long time since my first win. Consistency has always been my problem. I always do well in the first two rounds and then I am not able to maintain it in the last two rounds. I’m glad I finally managed to pull it off this time around.”

South Korea’s Kim Joo-Hyung, an overnight co-leader, shot a final-round 72 to share second place on eight-under 276 with Nitithorn Thippong (69), Sutijet Kooratanapisan (70), Chapchai Nirat (71) and the third round co-leader Donlaphatchai Niyomchon (72).

Kim started with four birdies in the front nine but a disastrous return trip saw him concede a double bogey on 11 and three straight bogeys on his last three holes.

Defending champion Chanachok Dejpiratanamongkol shot a 74 to finish tied 20th on one under alongside Thammanoon Sriroj (75), Pattaraphol Khanthacha (73), Napat Pattamasing (69) and Weerachai Yuanyang (75).

Thanyakorn Khrongpha was tied for 25th following his 70.
