REZNOR READIES TO RAZE BANGKOK
Rockers don’t forget that tonight, American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails will, for the first time ever, be performing in Thailand at Lat Phrao’s Moonstar Studio from 7pm onward. The band was set to play at Pattaya’s Silverlake Festival four years ago, but due to the turbulent political situation, the event was “indefinitely postponed”. Formed in 1988 by vocalist, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails is famous for their songs about fear, isolation and anguish, executed in a perfect marriage of punk, techno, drum and bass, heavy metal, synth pop and ambient dub. The band, known for their prolonged periods of inactivity, has released nine critically acclaimed studio albums, which include their 1989 multi-platinum Pretty Hate Machine, 1994’s groundbreaking album The Downward Spiral, 2005’s With Teeth, which hit No.1 in the US Billboard 200. Their songs, which were met with much confusion in the band’s early years, have pushed and challenged musical boundaries. Today, Nine Inch Nails is a classic rock band in their own right. Bad Witch, their latest album released in June, is considered to be one of the highlights of their discography. Reznor, who eight years ago won an Oscar for his film score in David Fincher’s The Social Network, also won two Grammy’s for Best Metal Performance in 1993 and 1996. And with recent five-star concert reviews from leading publications like The New York Times, it seems like the band is still delivering a fully immersive and sensory concert experience not to be missed.
Nine Inch Nails Live in Bangkok is staged tonight at 7pm at Moonstar Studio, Lat Phrao 80. Tickets cost 3,000 baht (concertgoers must be over 15 years of age). Tickets can be purchased at ticketmelon.com/event/nin or 02-026-3068.
