NTT boosts AI, blockchain cloud services

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies has encouraged further adoption of cloud computing services in Thailand, says a Japanese-based data centre provider.

“New sophisticated features such as AI and blockchain introduced by cloud service providers [CSP] are key drivers convincing customers to develop their own applications in the cloud,” said Masatoshi Tsuboi, executive vice-president for the data centre department at NTT Communications Thailand.

Hybrid cloud is one of NTT’s flagship solutions for 2018.

According to IDC market research on the worldwide cloud market, both public and private clouds will expand by 20% and 30%, respectively, in 2021.

To cash in on the growth of hybrid cloud, NTT collaborated with Megaport, a leading Network as a Service provider, to offer a new software-defined exchange service.

The concept provides one-stop multi-cloud connectivity and gives customers direct access to global cloud service providers.

Major global cloud service providers are Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Service, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, and Salesforce.

Mr Tsuboi said businesses today are transforming digitally, and the connectivity to the cloud is essential to deliver speed-to-market, especially for companies in financial service and innovativebased industries.

Taking advantage of Megaport’s platform, SD-Exchange offers flexible, on-demand cloud connectivity, helping them drive their revenue growth through cost control and efficiency, and most importantly through a network that matches the capabilities of their cloud services.

The cloud service segment has been growing significantly in recent years.

Compared with appliance server markets in Thailand, the cloud market value has comparatively minute market share, implying that there are still plenty of opportunities for the cloud services.

He acknowledges the enforcement of EU’s GDPR certainly affects cloud services. The customer and the cloud solution designer/implementer need to work closely to ensure that all regulations are complied with.

The company will continue to invest in Thailand as and will launch the NTT innovation lab soon.

The Innovation lab will be a playground for customers and partners to carry out proof-of-concept and software development and operation for disruptive technologies.
