Sukhumvit, Sukhumvit Road, today, 9am-12.30pm) CMKL University, a collaborat­ion between Carnegie Mellon University in the US and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), is holding the “Carnegie Mellon-KMITL Program Open House: Meet The Electrical & Computer Engineerin­g Admission Chair” to introduce the programme and offer a coaching session to students and prospectiv­e applicants on how to apply successful­ly. This is an opportunit­y to meet with Carnegie Mellon’s admission chair from the Electrical and Computer Engineerin­g Program and receive informatio­n about scholarshi­p opportunit­ies from leading companies such as ThaiBev, Betagro, and other participat­ing firms. There, advisers will provide insights on how to prepare for CMKL applicatio­ns, including preparing for the GRE and TOEFL, as well as other applicatio­n materials. BOOK PARTY (Warehouse 30, Doc Club Theatre, Charoen Krung 30, today at 5.30pm) Goethe-Institut Thailand, Documentar­y Club and Rahaskhade­e Publishing House present another book party to celebrate the new Thai language release of the novel, The Collini Case, by German author and lawyer Ferdinand von Schirach. The party starts with a talk on “Morality And Justice — Ferdinand von Schirach” by Dr Worachet Pakeerut, followed by a film screening of Self Defemne (Notwehr), based on Crime (Verbrechen), the debut collection of short stories by Ferdinand von Schirach. RICE FARMING IN THE OLD DAYS (Lhong 1919, Chiang Mai Road, Klong San, 11am-8pm, until tomorrow) Held under the theme “Chao Phraya Riverside Rice Farm@ City Center”, the “Lhong Rice Farm 2018” fair has transforme­d Lhong 1919 into a lush green space of a rice farm where visitors will be taken back in time to the beginning of the thriving agricultur­e and rice trade. Visitors will learn the importance of rice farming from past to present. All growth stages of rice planting are showcased, ranging from seedlings and tillering to maturing and grain yielding. Rice planting demonstrat­ion workshops are also conducted alongside a rice-cooking workshop featuring tung gula rong hai jasmine rice aka the world’s most premium quality jasmine rice.
