BRANDED ART
For their final international art showcase of the year, Sofitel SO will be hosting “Beyond Bangkok” — a solo exhibition by French London-based contemporary artist Louise-Nicolas Darbon from tonight until Nov 10, 2018. Inspired by the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Henri Matisse, Roy Lichtenstein and Salvador Dali, Darbon is renowned for his vibrant portraits of iconic pop figures, his take on famous luxury brand logos, and his fashion inspired artworks. He’s blown up since 2013 due to his fun mix of techniques like stencilling, spray painting, and traditional painting, resulting in collaboration with brands such as Adidas Y3, A. Lange & Söhne, Berluti, Bentley, Montblanc, Morgan Motors, Panerai, Rémy Martin, Roger Dubuis, and Paco Rabanne, to name a few. With the artist coming from a multicultural background, “Beyond Bangkok” is intended to pay homage to The City of Angels to remind everyone that art exists and can be understood by all, regardless of age, sexuality and upbringing. Its essence transcends beyond borders of cities and nations. Seventeen artworks will be on display at Sofitel SO’s Park Lobby on the 9th floor, and tonight, the glamorous French artist will be dropping by at the opening party. The hotel will host an exclusive cocktail reception from 7pm to 8pm with their partners Thai Airways, Dom Pérignon, LINE, CLUB 21 Thailand and Paul Smith. The “Beyond Bangkok” exhibition is organised in partnership with Art Curator Axel Roundouin, CEO and founder of Sarto International Fine Art Asset Management and Executive Partner, Laurent Macaluso.
