‘Wild Boars’ team to enjoy Youth Olympic experience

- IOC

The Moo Paa (Wild Boars) Academy club have accepted the invite by IOC president Thomas Bach to take part in the Youth Olympic Games which kick off next week in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 12 boys and their assistant coach will travel to the Argentine capital with their parents to attend the Youth Olympic Games from Oct 4-9 and are invited to watch the opening ceremony — which will be the first of its kind to take place outside a stadium — and the various sports competitions.

“We are very happy they accepted our invitation to come to the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires,” said Bach, who will meet the team during their visit.

“I am sure they will be warmly welcomed by all the athletes from all 206 National Olympic Committees, and being in the Youth Olympic Village will be an enrichment both for them and the other athletes.

“We also plan to organise a football game for them so that they can not only enjoy the life in the Village, but also demonstrate their sporting skills,” added the IOC boss.

The “Wild Boars” captured world attention in June when they were trapped for almost two weeks inside a flooded cave in Chiang Rai.

“The ‘Wild Boars’ showed great strength and resilience — truly Olympic values. This is why I asked them to come to the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires to share their experiences with other young athletes,” explained Bach.

The Games take place from Oct 6-18.
