Cops nab 3 over student shooting
Police have arrested three of five technical college students allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old student from a rival school in Bung Kum district last month.
Kamolwit Suwanthat, a logistics student at Rajamangala University of Technology’s Uthen Thawai campus was gunned down as he arrived on his motorcycle at his mother’s food cart in Nawamin Soi 57 on Oct 12.
Police on Monday issued five warrants for the arrest of Krisada Narapong, the alleged mastermind, Prasit Yonpol, the alleged gunman and co-conspirators Jirapat Petrak, Saharat Dongprachan, and Patipan Charoenchaikul.
Police refused to reveal the name of their vocational school to avoid revenge attacks. All those on warrants face a premeditated murder charge.
Mr Krisada, 21, Mr Saharat, 20, and Mr Patipan, 21, were arrested on Tuesday. The other two remain at large. Police announced the arrests yesterday.
Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Atchariyapradit, inquiry commander at the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said officers made the arrests while raiding 13 locations that included their residences.
He said the motive behind the murder was the perennial brawls between students of the two rival technical institutions.
Some 16 violent incidents have been recorded between students of the two schools since 2014, he said.
The suspects believed Kamolwit had a hand in the murder of a classmate, Pol Maj Gen Itthipol said.
