A 2-DAY FEAST OF ART

- There is no admission fee. Visit facebook.com/thecommonsbkk.

After the success of its first edition last year, the Commons on Thong Lor 17 will be once again hosting Art Weekend, a two-day mishmash of observing artists and becoming one yourself, this weekend from noon until 8pm.

The community mall will provide an open space not only to shop for community art, but to make it. Joined by 20 local artists and designers, including familiar names Alex Face, Bloody Hell Big Head and Nut.Dao, the second edition of the art fair will be a platform to meet the artists and peek into the creation and execution process of the works.

As a get-together of independent artists and studios, the creative weekend will feature a variety of paintings, illustrations, graphics and handmade crafts, as well as architecture and product and fashion design.

Accompanied by guest DJs throughout the day, many workshops will be arranged to offer new ideas and techniques with expertise from crafters, potters, bakers and more. Participants can then become part of the art project in a centrepiece to be exhibited at the venue. Perhaps some inspiration would do, with home-decorative items and stationery from local brands to browse through.

And what better way to spread art than to share it with potential artists. As part of the initiative, donations will be welcome for the provision of art supplies to support art programmes in local schools of the community.
