Huawei introduces telepresence system
Chinese telecom equipment giant Huawei Technologies launched its intelligent telepresence system yesterday to capitalise on Thailand’s US$50-million (1.65-billion-baht) videoconferencing market.
The six prospective sectors targeted by Huawei’s innovative telepresence system are healthcare, education, government, transport, finance and energy.
According to Dong Wu, vice-president for cloud communications marketing and solution sales at Huawei Enterprise, cloud computing and data centre services are high-potential areas for the enterprise market, along with digital transformation ecosystems.
Cloud computing is expected to grow exponentially in Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia.
Mr Dong said delivering the intelligent telepresence system is part of Huawei’s strategy to cash in on the growth potential of cloud business.
Videoconferencing systems embedded with artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing can improve enterprises’ operations through smooth communication and efficient collaboration management.
According to a Huawei report, meeting rooms are the command centres of organisations. Some 90% of key decisions and core ideas are worked out in meeting rooms.
Mr Dong said the digital evolution has moved conferences from the sphere of traditional video to an interactive telepresence. Enterprises thus need to deploy the features of collaboration, AI and ultra HD, making communication more efficient and satisfying the new requirements of various industries.
The Provincial Electricity Authority has deployed more than 200 Huawei videoconferencing systems in 74 provinces this year, serving over 30,000 workers.
