Really Really Cool reaching across Asia

- SUCHAT SRITAMA

Really Really Cool Co (RRC) is set to expand travel services to cover more Asian countries and enter the US market next year.

RRC chief executive Patee Sarasin said the company will offer outbound travel packages to Vietnam, South Korea and the US.

He said the expansion aims to meet demand for private and exclusive travel from Thais and expats living in Thailand.

RRC will finalise marketing studies soon to decided on highlight products for each country.

In addition, RRC plans to operate inbound tourism if there is strong demand from overseas markets.

The company launched niche travel packages to the Maldives in October this year. The second edition of packages to Japan was introduced last week.

RRC, which is majority-owned and managed by Mr Patee, the former chief executive of Nok Air, was formed to cash in on tourism and travel, especially from niche segments.

“I have 14 years experience in aviation and I know how to differentiate my business,” Mr Patee said.

RRC offers three different core segments: adventure, romance and family.

For the Japan market, the company is focused on Zao, a hot-spring ski and hiking destination in Yamagata prefecture that is popular with Japanese holidaymakers but has seen few Thai visitors, making it even more desirable and aspirational, Mr Patee said.

The launch is in collaboration with Yamagata prefecture. The project was created as part of a mission to promote tourism ties between Thailand and Japan by launching a new travel adventure.

The company is working with alliances such as NokScoot, Thai AirAsia X, Thai Lion Air, Japan Airlines, the Japan National Tourism Organisation and Ski365, a snow sports training ground at Future Park Rangsit.

RRC is working with local travel companies and 18 local hotels that have a maximum of 800-900 rooms.

Travel between Thailand and Japan peaked with record numbers in 2017, with new destinations and attractions fuelling bilateral tourism growth.

Japan received 1.57 million Thai visitors in 2017, up 9.1% from the year before, while 987,100 Japanese travellers visited Thailand last year, representing growth of 9.5%.

During the introduction period, RRC is offering a promotional rate starting from 46,900 baht per person for the fiveday, three-night option.
