Dead body found in Mekong River

NAKHON PHANOM: The body of an unidentifi­ed man was found floating along the Mekong River in Baan Samran Nuea of Muang district yesterday.

The victim was a 30-40-year-old male of unknown nationalit­y, approximat­ely 175-180cm tall. His wrists and feet were tied with rope while the body was wrapped in a sack.

According to the investigat­ion, the victim’s abdomen had been cut open and stuffed with cement in order to weigh the corpse down in the water.

Doctors concluded the victim had been killed at least 48 hours before the corpse was discovered. A similarly tied and weighted corpse was found in That Phanom district two days prior.
