How do I love thee?

- — Tatat Bunnag

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. So why not mark the special day by taking your date to see a romantic movie or three?

Bangkok Screening Room on Sala Daeng 1 on Thursday will be screening three classic tales of love: Four Weddings And A Funeral at

4.15pm, 500 Days Of Summer at

6.30pm and Corpse Bride at 8.30pm. What could be more romantic than spending quality time with your sweetheart, watching these cinematic celebrations of love? Here’s a brief synopsis of each film: Four Weddings And A Funeral (1994)

Lovable Englishman Charles (Hugh Grant) and his friends are unlucky in love. When he meets attractive American Carrie (Andie MacDowell) at a wedding, Charles thinks his luck may have changed. But after one magical night, Carrie returns to the US, ending what might have been. Charles and Carrie’s paths continue to cross. He comes to believe they are meant to be together, even if their timing always seems to be off.

500 Days Of Summer (2009) An offbeat romantic comedy about a woman who doesn’t believe in true love and the young man who falls for her. When it looks as if she’s left his life for good, Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) reflects on the brief period that he knew Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel).

500 Days Of Summer is fastpaced, funny and somewhat true-to-life, as it dissects how unruly and unpredictable young love can be. Corpse Bride (2005)

Returning to the painstaking stop-motion animation he employed with such success in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton delivers a hair-raising take on a 19th-century Russian folktale with Corpse Bride. While practising his wedding vows in the forest, a young man called Victor mistakenly weds a corpse. Now he must find a way out of his supernatural entanglement and be reunited with his flesh-and-blood fiancée.
