RBSO presents ‘Russian Virtuosity’
The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana presents its third major classical programme of 2019 in the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Friday at 8pm.
Titled “Russian Virtuosity”, the concert will be conducted by RBSO music director Michel Tilkin with concert pianist Dora Deliyska as guest soloist in Prokofiev’s wonderful Piano Concerto No.3, a masterpiece that explores the instrument’s capabilities to its limits.
The concert’s title equally applies to Glinka’s brilliant Russian And Ludmilla overture, a true orchestral showpiece, whilst Tchaikovsky’s imposing Symphony No.6 In B Minor (Pathétique) will complete the all-Russian programme.
Deliyska is a Bösendorfer piano artist who has appeared in Bangkok’s own “Bösendorfer Festival”. Currently residing in Vienna, Austria, she was born in Bulgaria — itself a country known for producing performing artists of prodigious technical ability.
She graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna and obtained a postgraduate diploma at the Oxana Yablonskaya Piano Institute in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Tuscany, Italy.
Regarded as one of the most important Liszt interpreters of the young generation, she performs regularly in the renowned Vienna Musikverein and Vienna Konzerthaus, and participates in numerous international festivals.
Tickets cost 400, 800, 1,200, 1,600 and 2,000 baht (half prices for students) and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major outlets (visit thaiticketmajor.com or call 02-262-3456) and Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation (call 02-255-6617/8.
