Lady L Garden Bistro is showcasing an exquisite collection of clothing and accessories of the late Thanpuying Lursakdi Sampatsiri as a special addition to the exclusive afternoon tea that has been served in celebration of Mother’s Day throughout August.

Only until Aug 12, diners at the bistro will have the chance to savour in style while viewing the fashion and lifestyle of Lady L or Thanpuying Lursakdi as portrayed through her seven selected costumes as well as jewellery sets, costume jewellery and personal belongings.

The mini exhibition marks the 100th birthday anniversary of the lady who was the only descendant of Phraya Bhakdinoraseth (Lert Sreshthaputra) and took over Nai Lert’s business empire at the age of 26.

She was the country’s first female minister of transport, a businesswoman who founded the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel, and a humanitarian who travelled the world to enjoy different cultures and ways of life, making friends from all walks of life.

Key pieces from the collection include the tailor-made pink evening gown that she wore to attend a gala dinner at the British Embassy in Thailand in 1958, and the Escada jacket that she wore to visit the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK where she was inspired to come up with Thailand’s very own version called “Nai Lert Flower & Garden Art Fair”.

All of the pieces will then return to the adjacent Nai Lert Park Heritage Home which opens for public viewing every Thursday and Friday. Entry fee is 300 baht (500 baht for foreign visitors).
