WEDNESDAY: The commerce and accountancy faculty at Chulalongkorn University, a partner of the World Economic Forum, announces the results of the Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2019. Asst Prof Wilert Puriwat, faculty dean, will provide a summary and analysis of the survey results and share insights on the Thai economy’s competitiveness at Petralai Management Theatre, 14th Floor, Mahittalathibet Building.
THURSDAY:The economics faculty of Thammasat University organises the Thammasat Economic Focus (TEF 17). The seminar will be held at Room LA107, first Floor, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University Tha Phrachan campus, and will see analysts, including former Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, discuss the Thai economy during the last trimester.

MONDAY: The Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand organises the 24th Book Expo Thailand at Impact Muang Thong Thani, Challenger 2. The theme for this year is “Knowledge Beyond Boundaries”.
Central Clearance Sale, with up to 90% off branded items, is at Central Chidlom. The sale lasts until Oct 14.
The Export Big Surprise Sale with 80% discounts on fashion items, winter garments and sportswear is at CentralPlaza Khonkaen. The fair runs until Thursday.
WEDNESDAY: Thailand Post will celebrate World Post Day 2019 at Terminal 21 Pattaya, Chon Buri. The event runs Oct 9-13 at the second floor, Tokyo.
PRESS BRIEFINGS
MONDAY: The Stock Exchange of Thailand reports a summary of market conditions during September at Cafe Amazon, second floor, Building B, SET building, Ratchadaphisek Road. The presentation is by Soraphol Tulayasathien, senior executive vice-president and head of corporate strategy.
The Thai General Insurance Association (TGIA) and the General Insurance Institute of Japan (GIIJ) hold a press conference for signing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the work of both associations and support the development of the insurance markets in both countries. The proceedings will be presided over by Anon Vangvasu, president of TGIA, and Mr Kanasugi, GIIJ chairman, at the TGIA office.
TUESDAY: Siam Commercial Bank’s “Decoding the Thai Economy in the 4th Quarter of 2019” press conference, led by Yunyong Thaicharoen, executive vice-president and chief executive of the EIC under Siam Commercial Bank, takes place at 10am on the 22nd floor of SCB’s head office.
Sakchai Worrasangasilpa, managing director of Hitachi Elevator Cambodia, is organising a press conference on the 18th floor of the Siam Motors Building. He will present business opportunities for Hitachi elevator business in Cambodia. At the launch of GrabKitchen, a delivery-only kitchen, also known as cloud kitchens, at the second floor of Samyan Market, Tarin Thaniyavarn, country head of Grab Thailand, will share the company’s success stories behind the GrabKitchen business model.
WEDNESDAY: A press conference will be held by Chanon Jirayukul, executive vice-president of Oppo Thailand, to launch the latest Oppo Reno Series 2. The meeting is at the Multipurpose Room, Samyan Mitrtown.

WEDNESDAY: Oil and Gas Thailand 2019 is at Hall EH-100, Bitec. The energy expo brings together both upstream and downstream oil and gas and petrochemical companies to showcase the latest technology and developments in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. Alongside is Thailand Marine and Offshore Expo 2019, an international maritime and offshore industrial event.
THURSDAY: Asia Fitness Conference 2019, under the them “The Future of Fitness: It’s All About You”, is at Bitec through Oct 14.
