Bangkok to host air rail event
The International Air Rail Organisation (IARO), in collaboration with Project Planning Service Plc (PPS) and PPS Oneworks, is co-hosting InnoCon Bangkok 2019 on Nov 20 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre.
Phongthon Tharachai, chief executive of PPS and co-host of the conference, said the theme is international air rail transport from the perspective of government officials and leading multinationals.
The event will include IARO’s first product display in Asia-Pacific.
The objective is to disseminate knowledge about the development of rail and air transport systems in Thailand and internationally.
The focus is on basic transport systems in the region and megaprojects around the world as well as the construction of large utility systems in Thailand, including an understanding of the latest construction innovations.
Mr Phongthon said aviation and railway business in the Asean Economic Community and in Thailand still have a lot of growth potential compared with other developed nations that already have airports and trains throughout the country.
“Important infrastructure exists only in large cities, and it is projected in 3-4 years Bangkok will have railway lines of more than 200 kilometres, an increase of almost 10 times,” he said.
“Moreover, U-tapao airport will add a third air transport hub to central Thailand, located in the Eastern Economic Corridor. All three airports are expected to be connected by highspeed rail projects.
“Metro rail projects and regional airports should be expanded to move passengers to the three main airports. Investing in infrastructure construction increases the value of assets in the country.”
Mr Phongthon said InnoCon Bangkok 2018 received a great response from participants.
“This year, PPS together with domestic and international partners have organised this event to attract representatives from Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for industry leaders and leading private companies to meet, discuss and create more opportunities for business competition, investment planning and transport in regional infrastructure.”
