Wisesight AI helps brands

- SUCHIT LEESA-NGUANSUK

Wisesight, a Bangkok social media analytics consultancy, is offering image recognition analytics that can help brands find deep consumer insights for their branding reputation.

In Thailand, there are an estimated 6.3 billion messages and 230 million pictures shared via online platforms per year.

“Thailand’s social media messages are projected to grow 19% in the third quarter from earlier forecasts, with over 20 million messages a day,” said Kla Tangsuwan, chief executive of Wisesight Co.

He said the company has a tool to analyse social media messages and uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to recognise images, mainly for logos, labels and characters.

“This new capability will allow brands to not only gather social feedback but also cover what people in social media are seeing,” said Mr Kla.

The technology can help brands analyse where their logos or labels appear on social media pictures, or which items appear with their products, he said.

These results can be used for product promotion plans, said Mr Kla.

Thailand has 52-53 million social media users, he said.

The company also widens its capability to analyse cross-border social media data to help brands gather customer insights from buyers abroad as well as expand new customers in Asean.

Wisesight has an office in Malaysia and is expanding analytics services for customers in Indonesia, which is estimated to have up to three times the social media data as Thailand.

The firm also wants to expand business to Myanmar and Vietnam.

The company’s overseas earnings account for 10% of total revenue.

Mr Kla said Wisesight’s revenue continues to grow 30% per year despite the economic downturn and brands’ tight budgets because it provides market research analytics and measurements to help brands evaluate the results of each campaign and channels more precisely.

“We use cloud-based services from Amazon Web Services [AWS] as its serves the dynamic and massive workload of Wisesight,” said Mr Kla.

Chawapol Jariyawiroj, country manager of AWS (Thailand), said Wisesight is one of its customers and an independent software vendor (ISV) partner in Thailand.

AWS will offer business-matching opportunities for local ISVs to meet AWS’s enterprise customers to increase their sales opportunities, including overseas customer base expansion.
