See Mickey Mouse celebrate Loy Krathong
Held to celebrate the Loy Krathong festival, the “Iconsiam Chao Phraya River Of Glory” will bring world-class entertainment and interesting activities at the River Park of Iconsiam, Charoen Nakhon Road, on Nov 11 from 4.30pm to 10pm.
A collaboration with Walt Disney (Thailand), the one-day event will see the appearance of entertainment icons Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who will dress in Thai Chakri costumes for the first time ever.
The 3.5m-tall figurines of both Mickey and Minnie in Thai outfits will be displayed alongside a 60cm-tall gold sculpture of Mickey making a Thai sawasdee gesture. There will be the “Mickey Goes To Thailand” photo corner and workshops for everyone in the family.
Another highlight will be “River Of Glory”, a light and sound waterworks display that will portray the beauty of Thai culture and the stories of historically significant landmarks along the majestic Chao Phraya River through a shadow puppet performance.
There will be a parade of the legendary icon Nang Noppamas, led by actress Woranuch Bhirombhakdi, a Nang Noppamas beauty contest and a mini concert by country music idol Got Jakraphun.
On the ground floor of SookSiam there will be a display of handcrafted krathong sculptures from all four regions and another Nang Noppamas beauty contest open to female contestants from three generations. Visitors are invited to create their own krathong and indulge in sumptuous dishes from 77 provinces.
Another attraction will be an exhibition of khom chak, lantern-style floating baskets decorated with natural grains, from 15 embassies in Thailand. They will be showcased at Iconluxe from Nov 8-24.
There will be free shuttle boat services available at Lhong 1919 pier, Si Phraya pier, CAT Building pier and Sathorn pier; as well as shuttle bus and van services from Iconsiam to Din Daeng and Iconsiam to Krung Thonburi BTS Station and Wongwian Yai BTS Station; until midnight. Call 02-495-7080.
