BANGKOK THEATRE FESTIVAL / VARIOUS VENUES / UNTIL NOV 17

You have two weekends left to attend plays organised by various theatre groups during Bangkok Theatre Festival. Too Long Theatre (fb.com/toolongtheatre) puts on a play inspired by the story of cannibal serial murder Si Quey (who many now think may have been a scapegoat) at BACC’s room 401 on Nov 9-10 at 1pm and 2.30pm. Burn-Out by Circle Theatre (fb.com/circletheatrebkk) is about one actor performing 11 monologues all by himself. These monologues are picked from Thai translation of Franz Kafka’s Josephine The Singer or The Mouse Folk, Dazai Osamu’s No Longer Human, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s Rashomon And Other Stories, and more. Burn-Out will be performed eight times at 8pm from Nov 7-10 and Nov 14-17 at The Shophouse 1527. La Nuit Que J’ai Aimé Joshua Wong by Qrious Theatre (fb.com/QriousTheatre) has a curious plot indeed. Coco, an MTF middle-age conservative transgender, starts to see her nephew “Frank” as Joshua Wong after wearing a pair of glasses given to her by her mother. Her right-wing extremity drives her to seek help from famous psychiatrist “Angelinarat Jung” to cure him or else she would murder him herself. This funny play has English subtitles and is suitable for an audience above the age of 15. It takes place at Goose Life Space on Nov 14-17 and Nov 21-24 at 7.30pm. There are more interesting plays on offer so it’s best that you check out the festival’s Facebook and respective theatre groups for more info on free and paid shows.
