RED CROSS FAIR RETURNS TO LUMPINI

The “Annual Red Cross Fair” will be back to Lumpini Park for a 10-day shopping spree with hundreds of booths and stalls offering a wide variety of products from Friday to Nov 24 daily from 10.30am to 10pm.

Held in honour of HM King Maha Vajiralong­korn Phra Vajiraklao­chaoyuhua, the royal patron of Thai Red Cross Society, this year’s event will run under the concept of “Under The Auspices Of His Majesty The King, An Elegant Flow Of Donation For Charity Can Be Achieved”.

Participat­ing the fair are more than 200 organisati­ons from both government and private sectors including the armed forces, state enterprise­s, associatio­ns, universiti­es and small vendors. They will present products and services, exhibition­s, and academic and recreation­al activities.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday at 5pm, featuring extraordin­ary shows such as a ballet, a water fountain dance with live orchestra, a tram procession and a parade of electric cars decorated with lighting and flowers. The decorated cars remain on display until Nov 17.

This year’s special will be “Hipster Thai Market”, a temporary shopping centre in the park where office workers can shop for innovative, intricate and handmade products ranging from clothing, handbags, shoes and accessorie­s to home decoration, at very reasonable prices. Famous dishes from the 50 districts across Bangkok will be served. Activities include the

Red Cross beauty pageant, a booth-decorating competitio­n, fun games, a playground with fun rides, stage performanc­es, entertainm­ent by stars and celebritie­s, lucky draws, free health check-up services; as well as raffle draws with fabulous prizes from more than 41 organisati­ons.

There will be a special pavilion where visitors are invited to express their loyalty and admiration to HM the King by signing their name on the touch screen tablet.

Visitors are also encouraged to use public transporta­tion to the fair and bring along their own shopping bags and personal water containers to help reduce plastic waste.
