FahFun Production and KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha present Broken Chords The Musical, a romantic comedy that will take the audience on a musical journey to experience contempora­ry love stories of several couples whose difference­s are causing cracks in their relationsh­ips, counting down to the endings. Fun music on the mountain

Hailed as the biggest music festival in the Kingdom, the 10th edition of “Big Mountain Music Festival” will return with more than 200 artists of all genres — pop, rock, rap, hip-hop, dance, indie, EDM, sam cha, and cafe. They will take turns to perform on eight main stages led by Bodyslam, Big Ass, Potato, Cocktail, The Toys, Polycat, Getsunova, Clear, Palmy, Paradox, Slot Machine and Pek Palitchok. Presented for the first time will be a nine-storey-tall stage where hip hop artists will perform dance music and another stage featuring K9 Pub with DJs spinning Korean songs and hits of the 1990s. Selected food shops and restaurant­s will be there to keep everyone full on both days.

For the first time in Thailand, famed sculptors of the Sanyi Woodcarvin­g Associatio­n from Taiwan will showcase their masterpiec­es during “Shapes Of The Woodland”, a Taiwan woodcarvin­g Southbound exchange exhibition held as part of the Chiang Mai Design Week 2019. On display are modern wood sculpture crafts, modern furniture design, and contempora­ry figurative wood sculptures. There will be a special panel discussion titled “Discuss Taiwan And Southeast Asian Wooden Sculpture” at Wiang Kaew branch of Punspace on Dec 12 at 4pm.

Treasure of Taiwan

Organised by the Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, “Taiwan Heritage: Treasure Of Taiwan” is a special exhibition of fibre art which is a Taiwanese national treasure. On display are masterpiec­es of various art forms including bamboo basketry, lacquer ware, rush weaving, bamboo weaving, dyeing, Chinese knot, Chinese silk tapestry and embroidery. There will also be three workshops conducted by both Taiwanese and Thai artists at Chiang Mai Historical Centre. Topics include “Nature Dying And Pattern” on Dec 7, “Electric Embroidery Pattern Design” on Dec 8, and “Internatio­nal Art Curation Experience” on Dec 9, all from 2pm-6pm. The exhibition and workshops are part of the “Chiang Mai Design Week 2019”.

FILM Hope Frozen

Film Archive (Public Organizati­on) is screening Hope Frozen, an award-winning documentar­y about a two-year-old girl from Bangkok — nicknamed Einz — who became the youngest person in the world to undergo cryopreser­vation. After her death from brain cancer, her family stores her remains in an American lab. Her head and brain now rest inside a tank in Arizona. Directed by Pailin Wedel, the film won Best Internatio­nal Feature Documentar­y Award at the Hot Docs Canadian Internatio­nal Documentar­y Festival 2019 in Toronto, Canada. There will be an in-depth talk with the director after the screening.

GET-TOGETHERS Light festival in temple

Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai Until Dec 22 at 6.30pm and 8.30pm The night sky above Wat Rong Khun, aka White Temple, in Chiang Rai has become the backdrop for a world-class multimedia show presented during the “Wat Rong Khun Light Fest: Begins”. This is the first time innovative 3D laser-projection mapping techniques have been employed to illuminate the world-famous Buddhist architectu­re and art pieces by national artist Chalermcha­i Kositpipat all over the temple. Presented under “The Illuminati­on Of White Temple” concept, the magnificen­t light performanc­e comprises six shows mostly based on Buddhist beliefs — The Sins, The Way To Heaven, Astrology, Enlighteni­ng, Circle Of Life and the grand finale,

Dec 8 at noon and Dec 9 at 6.30pm Bangkok Community Theatre (BCT) is looking for a team of talented and committed performers to audition for a production of The Complete Works Of William Shakespear­e (Abridged), which will be staged in March next year. Hamlet, Juliet, Macbeth, Petruchio, Lady Macbeth and characters from all 37 plays will make an appearance in this 97-minute parody and 6-8 performers are needed to make up the madcap ensemble plus a clever crew that will be crucial to the staging. Auditions are open to performers of any nationalit­y, aged 17 years and up who are able to communicat­e in English.

TALK Listing of Plain of Jars

Siam Society is holding a talk on “The Plain Of Jars Of Laos — World Heritage Monuments In Stone” conducted by Dr Lia Genovese who will summarise the Unesco World Heritage listing process of the Plain of Jars, which began with a tentative listing in March 1992 and was completed on July 6, 2019. He will also discuss the opportunit­ies and challenges. Dr Lia got a PhD from SOAS University of London for a thesis on the Plain of Jars of Laos — Beyond Madeleine Colani.

To raise awareness on environmen­tal conservati­on, Kasetsart Agricultur­al and Agro-Industrial Product Improvemen­t Institute (KAPI), Kasetsart University, is holding the “Thailand Green Design Awards 2020”, open to both undergradu­ate students and interested members of the public with creativity. They are required to design eco-friendly products in any of the three categories — Energy Saving and Green Innovation, Resources Efficiency, and Life Enhancemen­t. Each category offers a trophy, cash prize and certificat­e for the top three winners. There will also be special prizes — The Best of The Best Young: TGDA2020 prize, popular vote and Honorary Awards.
