Genstar connects elderly care actors

- KOMSAN TORTERMVASANA

Genstar Thailand, a tech firm focused on the senior industry, is offering a digital platform that matches caregiver service providers with elderly patients in need.

There are 40,000 caregivers across 2,000 caregiver service centres in Thailand at present, but the number cannot match increasing demand for elderly caregivers. The Thai population is ageing and caregivers need to be trained for the task.

Chupun Gowanit, chief executive of Genstar, said the company operates www.careadviser.co and a mobile app as a community hub that can match caregiver service providers either for corporate clients or customers through its algorithm.

The company takes 10-15% cut for the service charges a caregiver collects from clients.

She said the company rolled out the platform and app last month. The platform partners with quality caregiver centres, increasing the opportunity to reach out to users.

The company also provides the centres with operating services, including handling paperwork ranging from contracts to invoices throughout the process.

The platform lets customers seek services they need quickly.

Some 200 caregiver service centres have reached agreements to take part in the platform.

Genstar will continue to seek more centres to join its platform and play a part in improving the quality of caregiver services, said Ms Chupun.

The company joined Mahidol University to organise tests for caregivers to ensure they meet quality standards.

The tandem issues certificates to them in collaboration with professional certification agencies.

“The move is to create confidence among clients that the caregivers are capable of taking good care of the elderly, and that they take their physical and mental well-being into account,” she said.

Genstar projects earnings of 9 million baht from the platform over the next 12 months.

Of the amount, 5.5 million baht is from homecare and health centres, 3

The next step is to create a network of nursing home providers as well as e-hospitals for doctor consultations in the third quarter.
