Port win as Dragons stun Buriram

Port and Ratchaburi maintained their perfect starts to the Thai League 1 season last night.

Port came from behind to beat Sukhothai 2-1 for their third straight victory.

Jhon Baggio Rakotonome­njana scored for the hosts in the eighth minute only to concede two penalties converted by David Rochela (21) and Sergio Suarez (76).

Ratchaburi rallied from a 2-0 firsthalf deficit to defeat Buriram United 4-3.

The Dragons’ Javier Patino scored the winner against his former club in the dying moments.

BG Pathum continued their good run when they hammered fellow newcomers Police Tero 3-0.

At Leo Stadium, BG Pathum got off to a fast start when Irfan Fandi opened the scoring after six minutes.

Toti made it 2-0 after 27 minutes and Siroch Chatthong gave the hosts a 3-0 half-time lead with his 42nd minute strike.

BG Pathum have two wins and one draw, while Police Tero suffered their first defeat after two wins.

At Singha Stadium, Chiang Rai United put their title defence back on track with a 3-0 win over lowly Trat 3-0.

In a one-sided match, Brazilian striker Bill Rosimar scored for the hosts from the penalty spot after 13 minutes.

But the Beetles had to wait until the final six minutes to get two more goals from Gionata Verzura and Akarawin Sawasdee.

It was Chiang Rai’s first win after two draws, while Trat remain bottom with three losses.

At Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi rallied to beat Nakhon Ratchasima 3-1.

Wongsakorn Chaikulthe­win gave the visitors the lead in the 32 minute only for the Sharks to score three unanswered goals in the second half.

Carli de Murga (53), Herlison Caion (65) and Herlison Caion (90) were on target for the hosts.

Chonburi have two wins and one defeat, while the Swat Cats have one win and two losses.

ACL MATCH POSTPONED

Chiang Rai United’s match at FC Seoul in the AFC Champions League next Tuesday has been postponed at the request of the Thai champions due to the coronaviru­s outbreak, the Asian Football Confederat­ion said yesterday.

The Group E match will now take place on March 3, the AFC said.

The game was originally scheduled to be played behind closed doors.

Chiang Rai are still looking for their first point in their ACL debut, having lost to Melbourne Victory and Beijing Guoan in their first two games.
