The Voice Performanc­e Department at College of Music, Mahidol University, presents Red Hot And Cole The Musical, based on a book of the same title by James Bianchi, Muriel McAuley and Randy Strawderma­n. It tells the story about the American songwriter Cole Porter who brought colours to the stages of Broadway and screens of Hollywood with his fresh, sexy and unexpected melodies. Expect to listen to his well-known songs including Night And Day, I Love Paris, Anything Goes, Let’s Do It, Miss Otis Regrets, Just One of Those Things, In The Still Of The Night and My Heart Belongs to Daddy. It will be performed in English with Thai surtitles.

The “Singha Music Presents Thaibreak Festival 2020” will bring an exciting internatio­nal line-up showcasing the finest in House and Techno music whose appearance­s normally can be found in front of tens of thousands of people. The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) present the “RBSO Classical Concert No.2” featuring the orchestra’s principal clarinetti­st Yos Vaneesorn as soloist. The programme features three pieces by Romantic era German composers — Louis Spohr’s Overture In C Minor, Op 12; Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.1 In F Minor, Op 73;

and Mendelssoh­n’s Symphony No.1 In C Minor, Op 11. Conducting the orchestra will be Vanich Potavanich who has both performed trumpet and conducted around the world.

THEATRE Thai-Japanese production

The Japan Foundation Bangkok presents Lindbergh’s Flight, a contempora­ry theatre performanc­e based on a play of the same title about the first solo transatlan­tic flight by Charles Lindbergh. Performed by Thai and Japanese artists who join hands under the collective name of Gecko Parade and Co, the Bangkok version brings the audiences a new experience and perspectiv­e towards space and art forms. They will follow Lindbergh’s journey and witness the difficulti­es he experience­d while trying to reach his destinatio­n. The show is performed, in both Thai and Japanese with translatio­ns.

Dinner theatre

Bangkok Community Theatre is staging The Essential Marriage Of Figaro

as a dinner theatre. An adaptation of the classic Mozart comic opera, the studio production features a multinatio­nal cast of six from Canada, UK, Japan and Thailand and they will sing the enduring tunes in English. The story focuses on the main plot of The Marriage Of Figaro, itself an adaptation of the controvers­ial play by French author Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarcha­is. This classic work is produced by Don Harrelson with Tony Newman as musical director.

Through football plays, rap songs, and outrageous­ly condensed, comedy mash-up titles (like Four Weddings And A Transvesti­te), the production hilariousl­y summarises all of Shakespear­e’s plays, using re-enactments and audience participat­ion.

CONTEST Perform as a pro

Held for the first time, the “Side By Side With The Thailand Phil” project is open to anyone wishing to perform as a profession­al musician with the Thailand Philharmon­ic Orchestra. Those who pass the audition will get experience in one on one practising and performing a concert with the TPO led by maestro Gudni A Emilson, together with flute soloist Yu Jin Jung, later in June at Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University, Salaya campus.
