Fears grow after PAO chief tests positive
CHACHOENGSAO: The chairman of Chachoengsao’s provincial administrative organisation (PAO) revealed that he tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend, sending shockwaves through the community due to the large number of public gatherings he attended.
Kitti Paopiamsap posted on his Facebook page under the name of “Phuyai Kai Rak Paetriew” at 8.50pm on Sunday, saying that a laboratory test at Paolo Hospital confirmed he was infected with Covid-19.
He believed he contracted the virus while at Lumpini Boxing Stadium on March 6.
Actor and singer Mathew Deane Chanthavanij also revealed on Friday that he contracted the virus at the boxing stadium on the same day. The chief of the army welfare department has also tested positive for the coronavirus. He also regularly attends matches at Lumpini stadium.
Mr Kitti said on his Facebook post that he has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. He said he was concerned about the number of people he had been in close contact with at various social functions from March 6-15, so he asked asked them to observe self-quarantine and strictly comply with advice from the Public Health Ministry.
Among the functions he attended were a merit-making ceremony at a cock-fighting ring and an activity at Tambon Napho Hospital in Sanam Chai Khet district on March 6.
On March 7, Mr Kitti went to five wedding ceremonies, two temple fairs at Wat Phai Kaew in Plaeng Yao district and Wat Sanamchan in Ban Pho district, and a funeral at Wat Dong Yang in Ban Pho district.
On March 8, he took part in the International Women’s Day celebration in Phanom Sarakham district, attended a fair at Chachoengsao Rajabhat University and a funeral at Wat Traisoranakom in Bang Pakong district.
On March 9, he visited a senior citizen’s group in Bang Nam Priew district and attended a funeral at Wat Sam Yaek in Bang Pakong district.
Mr Kitti then attended two ordination ceremonies in Bang Nam Priew district and a women’s group function organised by Klong Takrao tambon administration organisation in Tha Takiap district on March 10.
He attended a funeral at Wat Sukharam in Bang Pakong on March 11. The next day, he met with representatives of the elderly from all districts, had a meeting with ThaiMuslims in Bang Nam Priew and attended the funeral of a former abbot in Phanom Sarakham district.
He attended another funeral in Bang Phai district on March 13, before he made an appearance at a wedding in tambon Klong Luang Peng and an ordination ceremony in Muang district.
Meanwhile, Pol Col Issares Palapong, Superintendent of Investigation at Metropolitan Police Division 3 yesterday closed the entire office in Dusit district to be disinfected and ordered all staff to observe 14-day self quarantine at home, after a subordinate, Pol Capt Tappathep Kangkasuwanno, tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
