EASYGOING DEMEANOUR

-

The Swing portrays a garden wherein a young woman on a swing is pushed by an old man, who doesn’t notice another younger man, among the shrubs, looking up her skirt.

Landmee’s founder and creative director Netdaw Vattanasimakon has translated the 18th-century oil painting, by Jean-Honore Fragonard, into couture for the spring/summer 2020 collection “My Pleasure Is My Business”.

Part of the Wallace Collection, The

Swing is exhibited in the Oval Drawing Room of the museum in Manchester Square, London.

The designer, nicknamed Mee, imagines the city’s fashionistas all dressed up for strolling downtown, sipping afternoon tea and exploring the museum to admire Fragonard’s most famous work. They are beautiful and elegant in the clothes they wear, with their easygoing demeanour embodying the “My Pleasure Is My Business” concept.

Her fashion label is known for edgy, vintage 70s-style outfits and signature embroidered lace and denim. The previous “Landmee Forever” collection was presented at Elle Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019 in Bangkok at CentralWorld, and LA Fashion Week 2019 at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles.

For the new season, Netdaw interprets elements from The Swing in creating the latest retro ready-towear. The British influence is evident in graphic rose as well as watercolour English garden prints.

Femininity is expressed through the use of fabric; pastel colours such as baby blue, old rose, butter yellow and periwinkle violet; and ruffles as well as corsage and smock techniques.

Denim has been given Landmee’s rose acid-washed treatment, for the collection’s rebellious girly looks.
