Nualphan hopes Adisorn will shore up Port defence

- TOR CHITTINAND

Thailand defender Adisorn Promrak was yesterday officially unveiled as their latest signing by Thai League 1 title conteners Port.

Port chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam expressed optimism that Adisorn’s arrival would further strengthen the team’s defence.

Nualphan said Port have long been interested in signing Adisorn and keenly followed his progress with former topflight champions SCG Muang Thong United before making their move last week.

“We had been keeping an eye on him for a long time and his performances with Muang Thong and the Thai national team impressed us a lot,” she said.

“I am confident that with his experience and high level of fitness, Adisorn will prove to be a big asset for our club and will strengthen our defence a great deal.”

In an earlier interview, Port coach Jadet Meelarp said the star defender is not guaranteed a starting spot as he is accustomed to at his former club Muang Thong United.

“We will have to wait and see how he does during training with the team. No-one is guaranteed a starting spot at this point, and that includes players such as Elias Dolah and David Rochela,” said Jadet.

However, Jadet also expressed confidence that Adisorn’s arrival would strengthen Port’s defensive unit.

The Thai League 1 is scheduled to resume on Sept 12 and according to Nualphan, Port intend to start training six to eight weeks before the restart.

All footballing activities in Thailand were halted on March 3 due the Covid19 outbreak.

After four matches, True Bangkok United and Ratchaburi lead the standings with 12 points each with FA Cup champions Port in chase in third place with 10 points.
