ARTISTS OFFER HOPE
The Ramathibodi Foundation has launched its fifth “Giving and Happiness” collection of gift and souvenir products featuring illustrations by leading Thai artists ML Chiratorn Chirapravati and Somnuek Klangnok as well as Pattreeda and Nualtong Prasarnthong.
Each artist expresses their feelings about the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic through their works.
“We are all facing an unprecedented situation at the moment. We all have to stay strong,” said ML Chiratorn. “My image of a man on horseback represents a knight in shining armour, who will help us in giving hope and fighting through this together.”
Somnuek has observed people’s generosity during the health crisis and symbolises this through a Thai angel.
“Thai people are kind-hearted. When faced with adversity, we come to each other’s aid. Those with a giving heart are likened to an angel or saint. I hope that this image will further inspire the act of giving and helping out each other,” he said.
Pattreeda encourages Thais to support each other and pass on hope through her cheerful illustration, while her sister Nualtong imagines a sunny day on the beach with a smiling girl and the shadow of a coconut tree in the background.
“The Sun signifies hope for everyone, and I would like everyone to relax in the face of any situation,” Nualtong said.
The collection includes scarves, notebooks, towels, totes, T-shirts, reusable shopping bags, lunchboxes, thermo-bags and thermoses, as well as items to adapt to the “new normal” lifestyle such as reusable waterproof masks with slits for changeable filters and a carrying pouch.
All proceeds from sales will support the purchase of medical equipment and treatment of patients at Ramathibodi Hospital.
