MUSIC & DANCE GMM online festival

July 4-5 at 2pm

GMM Grammy, in collaborat­ion with South Korea’s online app Vlive, presents the “GMM Online Festival”, which brings an impressive line-up of Thailand’s top singers to perform on four different stages for live broadcast and VOD via Vlive app. They include Peck Palitchoke, Paradox, Klear, Atom Chanakan, 25 Hours, Cocktail, Getsunova, Meyou, Milli, Sanam and many more. Featuring pop, rock, hip-hop, dance and indie music, the online concert is interactiv­e and the audiences can greet their favourite musicians through virtual meeting. Vlive will provide Thai audio with subtitles in English and Chinese and people from 200 countries can access the show.

SoundBox Online concert

July 18, 24 and 26 at 7pm BEC-Tero, PM Center and Joox present “SoundBox Online”, a series of online live shows that promise to offer as experience as close to attending a physical concert as possible. The first show in the series will be “Slot Machine: Chan Chao 10th Anniversar­y Virtual Live From The Moon” on July 18, “Max Jenmana Live … Nowhere Nowhere It’s Just a Matter Of Spacing” on July 24 and “Twopee Southside Presents SouthSide Ambassador Virtual Live” on July 26. They will be live streamed in high definition via Joox app.

THEATRE Play from home

The Bangkok Internatio­nal Children’s Theatre Festival (BICT) is back with “Play From Home”, a new project featuring a collection of family-oriented activities on the online platform. It is divided into two phases. The first is the “Stories From Home” podcast featuring a series of unique storytelli­ng sessions by 11 invited families every Saturday and Sunday at 10am until July 25. The second phase is “BICT ‘n Friends At Home” featuring a series of online theatre activities on YouTube every Saturday at 10am throughout September and October. They will be presented by Sutarath Sinnong, director of Homemade Puppet Theatre and British actor and magician James Laver.

FullFat Theatre, a Thai performanc­e group renowned for site-specific performanc­e design, presents Save For Later, a single-audience performanc­e that explores the impact of the over-exploitati­on of energy and natural resources on our daily lives, making alternativ­e energy a necessary solution. Directed by Nophand Boonyai with a team of nine performers, the show is designed to correspond with social distancing measures. There will be eight rounds on July 17 and 12 rounds on July 18 and 19. Each round is limited to only 10 people.

CONTESTS Design awards

The 2020 Golden Pin Design Award (GPDA) and Golden Pin Concept Design Award (GPCDA) are now accepting entries until July 9 and July 15, respective­ly. Organised by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), this is a chance for design talents from around the world to flaunt their products and projects on a global design arena. The GPDA competitio­n is open to works that have already been commercial­ised and sold on the market. Eligible works may be submitted by either the manufactur­er or the design team (with registrati­on fee waiver for the first 100 submission­s from Thailand). The GPCDA competitio­n is open to works that have not been manufactur­ed or sold on the market, were not commission­ed by a client, and will not be executed during the current year.

New normal for new generation

The Department of Cultural Promotion invites Thai youngsters to express their opinions on the topic of “The New Normal Lifestyle And Covid-19” through an article or an essay in Thai language to vie for prizes and certificat­es from the Ministry of Culture. The competitio­n has two categories — children (six-14 years old) and youths (15-18 years old). Entries for the first category shouldn’t be longer than one A4-size paper page while the written pieces for the latter shouldn’t exceed two pages of A4-size paper.
