ART FOR THE SOUL
Art is therapeutic and often the perfect remedy to address inner healing.
With this in mind, up-and-coming artist Lapinee Busayasakul has created thought-provoking acrylic works on canvas for her debut solo exhibition, aptly titled “The Process Of Healing”, a personal reflection of her own journey in life.
The 22-year-old’s work is showcased at the 333Anywhere Contemporary Art Gallery from today until Aug 31.
Lapinee, who completed high school in the US, is a painting major at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Chulalongkorn University.
In the last four years, she has had group exhibitions in top galleries around Bangkok.
Much of her inspiration for this event has been derived from personal experiences. She has been on that emotional roller coaster ride where one finds themselves periodically battling loneliness and sorrow. What brings her solace is her art, animals and being with nature.
After solving her bouts of emotional distress with what she is passionate about, Lapinee realised that there were many people out there dealing with the same emotional issues as her.
“The inspiration for my exhibition came from the daily life struggles we humans experience,” she said. “When I was younger, my view of life was one of happiness and love. However, growing up, life didn’t seem to be all that perfect.
“I started to experience negativity and loneliness in all aspects of life. To combat this negativity, I turned to painting to allow me to feel my inner self and to start the healing process. My goal was to be calm and to control my emotions. I know life does have its ups and downs, so I need to know how to deal with that.
“Every painting has its own story. I chose to use animals and flowers with bright, vibrant colours as I believe these are the best representations of my personality. I am a very flamboyant and colourful person, which I show in my paintings with bright colours.
“However, deep down it’s a cover for my sadness and loneliness which are common emotions we feel in everyday life. I cannot remove the negativity from my life. I just have to understand how to live with it and I do that through painting.”
