A collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chang International, Woody World and Zaap, the “Amazing Thailand Tuk Tuk Festival Powered By Chang Music Connection” is the world’s first tuktuk drive-in music festival with more than 200 tuk-tuks to be provided as concert chairs for the social distancing purpose. Taking turns to perform for seven hours non-stop will be Potato, Joey Boy, Palmy, Stamp Apiwat, Three Man Down and Taitosmith. Booths of Thai foods will be available with butlers in attendance. The event is restricted to visitors aged from 20.

Simplify is a visual installation and movement-based performance by performance artist Dujdao Vadhanpakorn who takes inspiration from the way her six-year-old friend looks at the world. She discovers that by simplifying our perception we would be able to see more solutions to the problems. Joining her to spiral within to meet their 6-year-old self will be three dancers — Amornsri Pattanasitdanggul, Navinda Pachimsawat and Sasapin Siriwanij.

Aug 13-16 and 20-23 at 7.30pm plus a 2pm show on Saturday Theatre 8x8 is staging Lovely Madness Bangkok 2020, a physical-based performance that gives a picture of everyday life in Bangkok from various aspects. The 70-minute non-text show reflects the reality of life, the hopes and dreams of those living in the city, its society system, its economic impacts, the politics and even arts. Suitable for the audiences aged from eight years.

Held to mark HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s birthday, the “Siam Paragon Bangkok Royal Orchid: The Paradise Of Siam 2020” features spectacular floral sculptures made from nine species of orchids as well as an exhibition of 880,000 rarely seen and beautiful orchid flowers. The highlight is a 2m kneeling albino elephant sculpture adorned with decorative embellishments in a luscious orchid forest at the Botanical Garden on M floor. The Hall of Fame also on M floor is filled with orchid arrangements while the Fashion Hall on the 1st floor features orchids for sale direct from orchid farmers. Activities include a talk on Thai orchid on Aug 9 at 11am a series of “Orchid for Mom” workshops daily at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.

Royal Project fair

Held under the theme “Like a Golden Ray of Light, Giving Serenity to the People”, the “Royal Project 51” features 869 crops and products from many royal projects, the Royal Chitralada Projects and Doi Kham. This year’s highlights include yamabushitake mushroom, portobello mushroom, coffee capsules, arabica honey, cold-pressed black sesame oil and persimmons. A special food zone presents 38 healthy menus of local delicacies of the hill-tribe people while ready-to-eat dishes cooked by 16 popular restaurants using ingredients from the royal projects are also available. “The Elegant Thai Textile” features a range of exquisite Thai fabrics from across the country and products made from Thai fabrics. Items include silk, prae wa silk, cotton, hilltribe fabric, Thai embroidered fabric with long and short stitches, ready-to-wear, as well as ceramics, yan lipao basketry, and bamboo basketry with khit patterns — from the Support Foundation. On exhibit are elegant costumes made from Thai silk and fabrics by leading Thai designers while an exclusive Thai silk collection by world-renowned Italian designer Antonia Sautter is presented in a virtual exhibition. Moment” fair features many activities designed for mother and child including a miniature garden workshop, a picture perfect workshop, brain teasers, a test for Alzheimer’s disease, a cookery and a yoga class. Every Saturday at 2pm, until Oct 17 Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (Bipam) presents “Under the SEA”, the first webinar series on the performing arts in the time of Covid-19 with speakers from 11 countries in Southeast Asia ready to reveal the actual circumstances they are experiencing.
