FAIR FOR GUNDAM FANS

-

Fans of Gundam and Gunpla can’t miss “Siam Paragon Presents Bandai Spirit Hobby Exhibition 2020”, which is hosting the debut of a 3m-tall Bust Up RX 72-2 Gundam figure, on display at Fashion Hall, 1st floor of Siam Paragon, Rama I Road, until Oct 4.

Held to mark the 40th anniversary of Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits) by Dream Toy, Thailand’s official distributor of Japan’s Bandai models, the event is showcasing the timeline and history of Gunpla — from its origin to present day — through more than 40 variants of Haropla Mobile Hero and Gunpla. Other notable characters are also set to have special appearances at the event.

Expect to witness a series of rare variants and models including RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Mechanical Clear Ver; MG 1/100 Justice Gundam (Clear Color); HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Clear Color Ver; and Haropla Black Tri-Haro (Clear). They are available for sale with multiple exclusive promotions and a dedicated “builder space” for model assembly has also been arranged.

There is also a dedicated zone where a caravan of hobbyists can come and assemble Gunpla and bring the finished models home. To participate, they are encouraged to make donations to the Children’s Foundation, Phramongkutklao Hospital, under HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

Gunpla enthusiasts will learn about the art of building Gundam diorama in a masterclass conducted by Vichayuth Eiam-Ong, Thailand’s Champion of GBWC 2018, on Sunday at 1.45pm. There is no admission fee but seats are limited.

Entries from the “Gunpla 40th Builders Contest 2020” are also on show and the winner will be announced on Oct 4.
