New bypass opens in Chumpon The Department of Rural Roads has opened a new bypass in Chumphon. The aim is to reduce traffic on Highway 327 from the Pathom Phon intersecti­on to the city of Chumphon.

The four-lane road is 8.44km long. It starts from KM2+500 of Road 4001 to Highway 41atKM6+100.The road also has bridges built over the Tha Taphao and Chumphon canals. The investment cost a total of about 788 million baht.

The bypass will shorten the travel distance by about 6km.

Discount on minibus rental

The transport company Nakhonchai Air is offering a 40% discount on rental fees for a 16-seat Toyota Coaster minibus.

The rate is reducedfro­m 9,900 baht per day to 5,999 baht. The price includes a driver andthe bus features a GPS tracking system, a 32-inch TV and a USBchargin­g station on every passenger seat.

Booking is available until Nov 30 for travel until Dec 15.

Research team eyes gastrotour­ism

A research team at Suan Dusit University has launched the “Gastronomy Village Tourism” project to promote local food and way of life of people in Rayong, Chanthabur­i and Trat.

The project is funded by the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

The research team will visit local communitie­s to check if villages have tourism potential. They will record their activities in video clips including panning for gemstones, steaming in a chicken coopin Ban Chang Thun in Boraidistr­ictof Trat and enjoying nam

phrik khoei sap or chilli dip made of tiny shrimp paste in Ban Ta Nuek of Khlong Yai district in Trat.

Thai VietJet will double its frequency on the Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat route to four daily flights from Oct 1.

The new flights will depart Suv ar na bhu mi at 5.50 am and 1.15pm in addition tothe existing 11.05amand 6.45pm flights. The inbound flights from Nakhon Si Thammarat airport will depart at 7.35am, 12.50pm, 3pm and 8.30pm.

The flight duration is about one hour and 15 minutes.

Emirates has partnered with hospitals inBangkok to offer a discount on Covid-19 PCR tests for its passengers.

Partner hospitals include Bangkok Hospital, Bangpakok 9 Internatio­nal Hospital, Piyavate Hospital and Princ Hospital Suvarnabhu­mi. Passengers need to present their flight booking and undergo a Covid-19 test at least 96 hours before their flights.

The airline resumed its daily service between Bangkok and Dubai earlier this month. However, restrictio­ns are still applied for internatio­nal travellers arriving in Thailand.

Bangkok Airways has reopened its passenger lounges at Chiang Mai andPhuket airports.

The service is available daily. Passengers are required to wear a mask while seated in the lounge except while having food and drinks.
