PP Group, the distributor of various famous brands such as Longchamp, MCM and Tory Burch, is responsible for opening the first Maison Kitsuné and Café Kitsuné in Thailand on the ground floor of The EmQuartier.

Founded in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki as a record label, Kitsuné (fox in Japanese) has evolved over the past 18 years into an international brand that fuses music, fashion and cafe.

Maison Kitsuné and Café Kitsuné shares 145m² where French luxurious touch and Japan’s simplistic style meets, from a tall arch door inspired by Palais-Royal to oak-paneled wall. In the maison, you can find clothing items, accessories and ceramics. Cafe-wise, Kitsuné keeps it light with coffees, matchas, ice creams and a handful of bakery items.

Fox latte (B170) is made from a blend that consists of beans sourced from Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. It’s roasted at Kitsuné Roastery in Okayama and used at all of its cafes as a signature blend. Locally, it has been furthered enhanced being fermenting with cocoa nibs from Chiang Mai for that chocolatey aftertaste. For extra crunch and flavour, the drink is also sprinkled with cocoa nibs and contains a hint of cookie through its syrup. I don’t know if a coffee purist would approve but I certainly would.

Uji fizz (B160) blends ceremonial-grade matcha from a farm in Uji (hence the name) with refreshing elements from Japanese white peace syrup and yuzu puree, making for a refreshing drink. A real thirst-quencher.

Living up to its name, La Fleur (B160) is the lightest and the most fragrant of the three drinks I tried. It aims to simulate a fizzy sensation of sparkling wine and contains refreshing elements from elderflower syrup, French vanilla and yuzu for extra appeal. The three drinks above are exclusively sold at Bangkok’s Café Kitsuné.

Nibble-wise, Japanese cheesecake (B160) impresses me with it spongy fluffy texture and subtle flavour. Fox shortbread (B60) hold its form long enough to be a cute prop on top of the cheesecake and crumbles into buttery goodness on my palate.

The chevron-patterned wall on the facade, as well as sculptures of its iconic foxes await those who look to add cute pics to their social media. Kitsuné also introduced a capsule collection dedicated to Bangkok that went on sale on Sept 17. The iconic fox has been Thai-ified with the three colours of Thai national flag.
