TWO MASTER POTTERS
LEACH AND HAMADA / SHIBUI GALLERY / UNTIL SEPT 26
Shibui, a specialist gallery in modern Japanese ceramics in Ekamai, will showcase two masters from two hemispheres, from tomorrow. With support from the Japan Foundation, selected ceramic works by Bernard Leach, who’s regarded as the Father of British studio pottery, and Hamada Shoji, who was designated a “Living National Treasure” in 1955, will be on display to commemorate the centenary of them establishing the Leach Pottery in St Ives. This posthumous exhibition also includes ceramics by Kawai Kanjiro, a lifelong friend and associate of both masters. All items are also on sale. Open 11am-8pm.
