Raid nets drugs worth millions

PATTANI: Three-hundred thousand speed pills worth 31 million baht were confiscate­d from a member of a drug traffickin­g ring active in two provinces after he was arrested during a raid in Muang district, police said.

The suspect was identified as Danai Yi-i, 23. Police raided his home as he was about to deliver 30,000 pills to an undercover policeman in tambon Pooyu, they said.

During questionin­g, the suspect told police more drugs were hidden at a rented house in Muang. Police searched the premises and discovered 282,000 speed pills in cardboard boxes.

Police confiscate­d the drugs, a motorcycle and two phones.

The suspect is charged with illegal possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Police said the drugs confiscate­d from the suspect was valued at 31 million baht. According to police, the seizure of the pills is part of an extended investigat­ion into the Sept 21 arrest of drug suspect Imron Ahsae who was found with 1,275 speed pills in his possession.

Both were linked to a traffickin­g ring known as “Baelan” which operates in Pattani and Yala, police said.
