Daylight robbery nets B4m of gold

CRIME: A man robbed a gold shop inside the Wang Hin branch of Tesco-Lotus in Lat Phrao district yesterday and escaped with gold ornaments worth an estimated 4 million baht.

Chokechai police said the robber forced staff at the Yaowarat Krungthep shop at gunpoint to hand him three trays of gold ornaments weighing 150 baht altogether. He fled on a motorcycle. Police are tracking his escape route using footage from CCTV at the shop. The gold shop is located at the entrance of Tesco-Lotus which made it easier for the robber to make his getaway, according to officers.
