Deaths from Covid-19 in Indonesia have passed 10,000, making it the first Southeast Asian country to reach the grim milestone. The country had reported 262,022 infections as of last Friday, compared with more than 296,000 in the Philippines, but the latter has reported just over 5,100 deaths. The momentum of infection Indonesia has increased, with the number of new daily cases reaching a record high of 4,634 two weeks ago. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan last week extended by another two weeks the restrictions he reimposed in the capital, as infections continue to spread in surrounding areas.
