SINGAPORE

-

Singapore’s total population has fallen for the first time in 17 years as the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in fewer foreigners working in the city-state. The total population dropped 0.3% to 5.69 million as of June from a year ago, largely due to a reduction in foreign employment in the services sector, according to a report released last Thursday. The non-resident population was 1.64 million as of June, a decrease of 2.1% from June 2019 and the lowest since 2015.
