SEA JUNCTION UNVEILS BOOK FAIR WITH LOCAL FLAVOUR
SEA Junction, a Thai nonprofit organisation and foundation, will start 2021 with the “Southeast Asia Mini Book And Craft Fair”, which will be held on Jan 16-17 from 11am to 7pm.
This is a monthly event where visitors can find new and used books that provide knowledge about Southeast Asia that people can absorb during the stay-at-home order due to Covid-19.
The new books are given in consignment from recognised publishers with an interest in the Southeast Asian countries including Silkworm and River Book from Thailand, ISEAS from Singapore and Yayasan Pustaka Obor from Indonesia.
There are almost double the number of both new and used books compared to normal at SEA Junction’s Library. They include books in Thai, English and Indonesian on various issues related to Southeast Asia and the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).
Some literature and development-related work from outside the region is also available. They have been donated to the organisation for the purpose of the fair.
Also, expect to see different types of crafts from SEA countries such as papier-mache from Myanmar and the Philippines; metre tapes and sand dolls from Vietnam; puppets made from recycled papers, batik pencil cases and fabric dolls from Indonesia; and handmade bags and postcards from Thailand.
All proceeds will contribute to the organisation’s functioning and activities. SEA Junction was established with the aim to foster understanding and appreciation of Southeast Asia in all its socio-cultural dimensions. It is located at Room 408 of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Pathumwan intersection.
