Iconsiam continues the tradition of Thai heritage preservati­on through a series of performanc­es and culturally inspired activities during “Iconsiam The Iconic Songkran Festival 2021”, which will take place at Charoen Nakhon Hall from tomorrow until April 18.

Visitors are invited to pay respect to Buddha relics on loan from Wat Yannawa in Bangkok and replicas of Buddha images from Wat Sothon Wararam in Chachoengs­ao, Wat Phra Singh in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Wat Pho Chai in Nong Khai as well as Phra Chiang Saen from Chiang Mai.

The opening ceremony will take place on April 12 and will feature the appearance of actress Pimchanok Luevisadpa­ibul as Miss Songkran. She will be donned in traditiona­l Thai costumes with accessorie­s curated by craft master Weeratham Trakulnger­nthai.

Next, learn about the history and culturally significan­t Songkran ceremonies in a talk session on April 13 at 2pm. It will also touch on interestin­g facts about four Buddha images temporaril­y enshrined at Charoen Nakhon Hall for this festival. A number of craft workshops will take place twice a day and is open to shoppers who spend at least 300 baht.

Interested visitors can also have their future read by famous fortune tellers led by Khatha Chinbancho­rn, at Rassada Hall on the 1st floor. The fee is 400 baht per session with proceeds going to Chalermpra­kiat 48 Phansa School under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Meanwhile, SookSiam on the ground floor will present many delightful activities under seven themes during the “Sooksiam Songkran Cheunjit Cheunjai Amazing 7 Happiness of Siam” from tomorrow until April 15.

Visitors are invited to pay respect to Buddha’s statues from four regions, enjoy music performanc­es by junior musicians, witness the Kudi Chin community in a living museum format, join traditiona­l sand-castle building activities, and ask for blessings from their elders using Thai scented water.

A number of favourite restaurant­s and food vendors will also be there and a variety of products by young talented designers and local communitie­s will be available.
