Silavadee Pool Spa Resort, Koh Samui

- PATTARAWADEE SAENGMANEE

Standing on the tranquil Laem Nan beach, Silavadee Pool Spa Resort on Koh Samui has long been a popular holiday getaway for local and foreign vacationers and honeymooners to indulge in the romantic ambience and have fun doing a wide range of leisure activities.

A 30-minute drive from Samui International Airport, this luxury property accommodates 80 spacious deluxe rooms and pool villas, ranging in sizes from 50m² to 300m², in which guests can admire the breathtaking views of the Gulf of Thailand from every corner.

OVERALL DESIGN

Perched on the headland, this tropical-style property is set in lush landscaped gardens full of towering trees, local plants and rocks to create a harmony of modern living and nature.

The open-air lobby is adorned with wood furniture and all villas were built with natural materials like teak, cedar wood and bamboo to give a rustic yet elegant look. The long walkway to the beach is designed as a vantage point to watch the beautiful sunset over the turquoise sea, perfect for guests to enjoy taking selfies.

ROOM AND FACILITY

The accommodation is divided into 12 types, starting from Jacuzzi Deluxe to Silavadee Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite. The 50m² deluxe room comes with a private balcony and an outdoor jacuzzi so that guests can relax and get close to nature.

One of the most popular choices for families and a group of friends is the 230m² Two-bedroom Ocean View Duplex Pool Villa, home to an infinity-edged private pool with aqua jet seating and a private terrace, perfect for a barbecue party.

I spent two nights in a 150m² Scenic Ocean View

Pool Villa filled with ecofriendly contemporary decor. Cozy and spacious, it has a high-ceiling and polish wood floor, while the living space is furnished with a comfy sofa, an LED TV with satellite channels and a portable Bluetooth speaker.

There’s a working corner with internet connectivity as the signal for complimentary Wi-Fi was strong enough that I could roam around the villa. A mini-bar corner is complete with a small fridge, Nespresso machine and tea-making accoutrements.

Featuring a glass wall, I could lay down on the soft king-sized bed and enjoy the sea view. A large walkin-closet comes with a vanity area, laundry set and safety box, while the bathroom is see-through, with a ceiling-to-floor window overlooking the private outdoor saltwater pool and deck. Inside, it has a separate rain shower, a terrazzo bathtub and a counter with two wash basins and all kinds of amenities from Panpuri.

During the day, adventurers can check out the daily programme of watersports and beach activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, beach volleyball, yoga, Tai Chi, Thai boxing and Pilates.

Two infinity swimming pools are the popular place to hangout with a backdrop of blue sky and turquoise waters, while office workers can recharge their energy with a selection of Asian-Western treatments at the Silavadee Spa.

FOOD

The Moon Restaurant serves a tantalising breakfast buffet, including dim sum, street food like braised pork leg on rice, noodles with chicken, and grilled pork with sticky rice. But the highlight is a wide selection of a la carte dishes like lobster roll, egg caviar, steamed sea bass and grilled barracuda that can be paired with a complimentary French sparkling wine.

For dinner, guests can book a table at the open-air Star Restaurant and enjoy fresh quality seafood like a large bucket of oysters from both local sources and Japan as well as a seafood platter.

SECURITY

A security team is in charge at the hotel entrance and my villa had a towering wood door that allows entry with a classic key. To avoid virus transmission, the resort has developed an app on which guests can chat with staff, check and book activity programmes or order meals with their phone.
