Tuck in to a vegetarian extravagan­za

Held to celebrate the annual Vegetarian Festival, the “Emdining J Festival” presents numerous vegetarian selections cooked with quality ingredient­s at 24 leading restaurant­s at the Emporium and EmQuartier, until Oct 13.

This is the only time of year to try meat-free menus from world-class dining establishm­ents which have come up with special recipes for foodies with a determinat­ion to refrain from consuming animal products for at least nine days.

The highlights include vegetarian bruschetta, an ultimate appetiser featuring homemade bread drenched with olive oil and miso infused eggplants and topped with fresh tomato salsa, at Another Hound Cafe; homemade tagliolini pasta with truffle at Mozza By Cocotte; and turnip cake stir-fried with tofu at Sava All Day Dining.

Those preferring a Thai taste will love stir-fried noodles with vegetarian chicken and chilli paste at KubKao’ KubPla; and mushroom stems stir-fried with basil at Nara Thai Cuisine.

Two interestin­g plant-based recipes include Sichuan-style tofu with plantbased alternativ­es served with deepfried buns at Man Fu Yuan Kitchen; and Beyond Meat cheeseburg­er served with a side of fries at Patio.

To delight those with a sweet tooth, Fire Tiger by Seoulcial Club is serving “Taro Lite Milk Tea”, an original refreshing vegan taro milk tea, as well as deep-fried purple sweet potato balls, affectiona­tely called “Sweet Potato Tiger’s Egg”.

Other eateries ready to serve their signature meatless dishes include Le Dalat EmQuartier, Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant, Greyhound Café, Leon By Cocotte, Cafe Chilli, Xing Fu Tang and Laemcharoe­n Seafood.
