True Move H Universal Communication Co (TUC) has partnered with Nonvoice Alive, a virtual 5G app and augmented reality (AR) tech service provider from the US, to launch a portal of 5G AR apps in Thailand.

AR technology is gathering pace around the world as it can potentially create immersive experiences for people, blurring the line between the digital and physical worlds.

The 5G AR app portal — “True 5G Innovative Cloud AR with Nonvoice alive” — can be accessed through press. nonvoice.com.

TUC, the second biggest mobile operator in terms of subscriber base, aims to provide a series of AR apps to customers, particularly via e-sports and social gaming.

The collaboration is also expected to help Thai developers access Nonvoice Alive’s marketplaces, reaching out to the global market.

The portal will be in service from Nov 1, starting with nine apps, according to Piroon Paireepairit, head of the 5G working group at True Corporation, the parent company of TUC.

The apps are Reality Crash, a shooting game; World League Live, a football game; SCOOAAR, an air hockey model game; DRUNKAAR, a basketball game; Dragon Awakening, a dragon place protection game; Gizer, a platform that holds e-sports games with blockchain tech; Learn AR, a vocabulary learning app; Leo AR, an education app; and GFT, a platform that serves authentic digital collectibles.

True customers are subject to a seven-day free trial on every app. After that they can apply for membership at 29 baht per week or 99 baht per month.

“The latest move is another step forward with the most complete gathering of virtual 5G applications to complement all lifestyles,” said Mr Piroon.

Mr Piroon said that AR tech is a core trend of people’s digital lifestyle and digital economy through vertical industries, as well as the social side such as education.

Meanwhile the 5G tech network, with faster and stronger capacity, could support the use of this AR tech, enabling gamers to interact swiftly between the virtual and physical worlds.

The portal is expected to add more innovative apps in in the future, Mr Piroon said.

The partnership would open the door for Thai developers to enter the AR marketplace, capitalising on a new opportunity, according to Mr Piroon.

Simon Buckingham, chief executive of Nonvoice Group, added that the company is a startup company centring on all leading global application developers, connecting with app developers, and creating and providing the 5G AR platform under “the local to global” concept.

“We really hope that this collaboration will allow True customers to experience the best 5G AR application usage on the best True 5G network,” said Mr Buckingham.
