Sandy chases glory on Bang Saen streets

-

Thai driver Sandy Kraokaew Stuvik will take to the streets of Bang Saen this week for the first hosting of the Bangsaen Grand Prix in over two years.

Sandy currently holds the lap record and has a race victory under his belt at this beautiful seaside street circuit.

This year, Sandy is targeting victory once again.

The Thailand Super Series — the country’s and Southeast Asian premier racing series — will return to the iconic street circuit for its season opener from June 29-July 3.

The circuit has not seen action since the 2019 season, meaning all participants will be very keen to resume racing at the picturesque venue.

The series expects a total crowd of over 300,000, which should see the seaside city burst into life.

Sandy has been preparing himself to tackle the challenge of driving a GT3 car at its absolute limit on the unforgiving and bumpy street circuit.

With a rigorous training programme, and also tests with B-Quik Absolute Racing Team to set up the Audi R8 GT3 Evo II for the demands of a street circuit, Sandy has left no stone unturned in his pursuit of victory.

“I’m happy and definitely very much looking forward to be racing here again. No other circuit offers the challenge of Bang Saen,” Sandy said.

“We will be faced with many challenges throughout the week of the race, and together with B-Quik Absolute Racing, we will make sure that our Audi R8 GT3 Evo II cars are set up well and ready for this demanding track.

“I’m excited to see what changes have been made to the round about corner. This was one of my favourites before, so if it offers more technicality I truly welcome it! Let’s see who comes out on top as we fight it out on the streets. We hope to see a lot of people there.”

This season, Sandy will be sharing his No.25 Audi R8 GT3 Evo II with Malaysian racing driver Akash Nandy.

The duo will race under the B-Quik Absolute Racing banner as they take a shot at the overall titles in this year’s Thailand Super Series.

The series will commence at Bang Saen and ends with three events at Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram.
