MASERATI LOOKS TO THE HEAVENS WITH NEW CONVERTIBLE

Maserati has unveiled its MC20 Cielo, the retractable hardtop version of the Italian company’s MC20 supercar.

The letter MC signifies Maserati Corse, while the number 20 represents 2020, which refers to a new era for the brand. The model name, Cielo, is the Italian word for sky, which emphasises the beauty of driving a convertible. It was designed by the Maserati Innovation Lab and manufactured at the Moderna-based Viale Ciro Menotti factory. It is a 100% Italian-made vehicle, just like the older MC20 Coupe.

The new metallic colour acquamarina features a three-layer spray method, with the primary hue being a racetrack-inspired pastel grey. It is embellished with aquamarine mica scales that shimmer when illuminated.

The gull-wing doors make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. Both the roof’s opening and closing fluidity were successful in wind tunnel tests. Carbon fibre is used to construct the body’s framework. Little in size, but powerful in character, as one would expect the car performs admirably, both on the street and track. A custom-made special Maserati Fuoriserie colour also is available.

The vehicle is powered by a 6-cylinder, 3-litre, 630hp engine, which gives it a sporty attitude. Multimedia and Maserati Connect can be used to control a range of purposes, including all of the Maserati Intelligent Assistant’s features. A 12-speaker premium Sonus Faber audio system is one of the amazing options available.

Active safety systems include parking sensors, a rear camera and a system that keeps an eye on blind spots. Options include an automatic emergency speed reduction system, a traffic sign recognition system and a new camera that can see in all directions.

An electric version of the convertible is in the works.
