Theatre channels early 20th-century Egypt

-

Two years ago, Sirichai Daharanont celebrated Theatre’s 35th anniversary with a collection influenced by 1970s style. The seasoned designer travelled back further in time to the early 20th century for inspiration in designing the new collection, presented at the Diversology show and sponsored by Devonte men’s skincare brand.

Siam Paragon’s Fashion Hall was transformed into an Egyptian desert with magnificent pyramids as a backdrop for the runway, where models strutted the menswear featuring the fashion house’s characteristic duality of masculinity and feminism.

Apparel worn by wrapping and fabric’s fluttering movement are key ideas of the designs that include long-sleeved silk collared shirts, one-sleeved stretch cotton T-shirts, slit-front cotton skirts and highwaisted cotton sarong pants.

The mix-and-match is enhanced by layering with a bathrobe, trench coat or the stand-out Sobek and patchwork Astennu coats with voluminous draping.

Men can also opt for one-piece woven cotton long shirt, woven linen kaftan with embroidery or a wool long vest.

Besides stripes and batik prints, floral motifs appear in pieces like the Horus safari shirt, Amunet T-shirt and Ba coat with an embroidered hem.

Theatre’s sustainable fashion approach employs naturally-dyed fabric in neutral tones such as beige and brown that harmonise with the desert-like ambience. Accessories include multifunctional scarf hats and a mini phone bag featuring sustainable and vegan leather.

Theatre’s menswear collection is available at its flagship store, on Siam Center’s 1st floor.
